Major win for local women in Logan

It was just a couple of months ago that the Miles Government delivered a big new investment into women and girls health, mental health and domestic and family violence support.

At the time locals said you wanted to see more resources in our own community.

As a result hundreds of locals pledged support for more services, and now I can announce the opening of The Centre for Women & Co building right here in Springwood.

The new state of the art premises on Cinderella Drive means improved access for women from Redlands and Logan to use the services Women & Co provides due to its central and accessible location near public transport.

Locals have been saying to me you want more services for women and girls, and the decision to bring this service here is a direct response of listening to our community.

The Centre for Women & Co offers a range of safety, health and legal services, including counselling, for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

A big thanks to the Springwood Youth Advisory Committee, who have championed further action to support women and girls in Springwood.

The investment here to deliver this facility is an indication of the Miles government’s continued commitment to supporting equity, respect, safety, and diversity in our community.

Local tradies are working hard to complete the fit-out to ensure the Centre for Women & Co. will open their doors to the community in mid-June.

Funding the Centre for Women & Co to make Springwood home, is another step to ensure our community is safe for all, especially for women and girls.
