Calling all hotheads: the Chillogan Chilli Festival is returning to Logan for a fifth time, but this year it’s adding rum.

Recently rebranded as a “Chilli and Rum Festival”, Chillogan is promising to bring the heat this June.

Organiser Scarlett Habanero said the new rum-tasting quarter would offer patrons the opportunity to try some great rum brands.

“People come to eat hot, hot chilli or to experience something new, so we will deliver,” she said.

Guests can venture down Hellfire Alley, where they will find all things chilli – including plants – and then head to the Afterburn Bar to drink some chilli and rum-themed cocktails, chilli beer and more.

Entertainment will consist of live music, including returning musicians Sean Mullen Guitar, Philip John, and Missy Vader and the Dark Force.

Ms Habanero said the highlight of the festival, which is a series of spicy eating challenges, would also return.

Trophies and crash prizes are up for grabs.

While parents are consumed by the spicy challenges, kids can participate in an ice-cream challenge.

Yugambeh woman Aunty June will entertain kids with stories, craft and games, alongside Areta from Bush Kindy Teaching.

Kids will also have the opportunity to take pony rides, visit the animal nursery, play with remote control cars, a model railway, and watch motorcycle and car displays.

The festival is on Sunday 2 June, from 11am to 7pm at “The Bunker” in Kingston.

“Chillogan is the only festival run by a private organiser in Logan City,” Ms Habanero said.

“I love bringing this event to the people of Logan who have always welcomed me so wholeheartedly.”
