Police label Kingston house fire “suspicious”

Police are investigating after a house caught fire in Kingston on Tuesday night (22 May).

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) spokesperson said firefighters were called to a building fire on Spruce Street at around 10.10pm.

Four fire crews arrived on scene to find the house “well involved” by flames, the spokesperson said, but found no occupants at the property.

The fire was fully extinguished just over an hour later, at around 11.30pm.

QFES investigators left the scene in the hands of police.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the fire was “being treated as suspicicious at this stage”.

“Police are appealing for witnesses who may have information to contact Policelink or Crimestoppers,” the spokesperson said.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
