Logan man racks up over 50 charges: rape, sexual assault, domestic violence

A Logan man, 34, has been charged with 34 more offences following multiple rape charges earlier this year.

The man was charged in March with four counts of rape and sexual assault, and by April had received an additional 14 sexual assault charges.

Police now allege the man used a number of dating apps and social media platforms to connect with women in Brisbane and Gold Coast between 2019 and 2023.

“…. before alleged committing offences against at least nine women,” a police statement said.

Following initial investigations, a search warrant was executed at a Logan property in March, where a number of devices were seized.

Police said they charged the man today (Friday 10 May) with 24 counts of distributing intimate images, three counts of rape and one count each of attempt to commit rape, choking in a domestic setting, recordings in beach of privacy, unlawful stalking and contravene domestic violence order.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 27.

Detective Senior Constable Katherine McDonald from the Sexual Crime Unit said investigators believed there were further victim-survivors in the community who may be able to assist with the investigation.

“We have uncovered multiple intimate images and videos where the identity of the person depicted is unknown and we are urging anyone who had contact with this man to come forward to police,” Detective Senior Constable McDonald said.

“We understand there are many reactions to experiencing sexual violence and deciding to make a report is a personal decision which can be difficult and confronting.

“If you have experienced sexual violence, you are not alone and it is not your fault.

“We urge anyone who has information which can assist this investigation to come forward and contact police.”

A variety of reporting options aimed at increasing accessibility and options to support people in coming forward are available.

Alternative Reporting Options (ARO) provide victim survivors with an online alternative for reporting sexual assault.

ARO gives the victim survivor the opportunity to provide police with the circumstances of their assault, with the option of remaining anonymous.
